Ever been so utterly inspired, you can't sleep?

It feels like my mind is tossing, turning, scrambling and steaming with ideas.

It's almost midnight, I'm sick and unable to take many pictures, yet I'm so incredibly inspired.

And I can't sleep, so here I am. Writing about the fact that I can't sleep.

Good thing about this? I have ideas.

So many new ideas I've never even considered before.

I'm really looking forward to challenging myself soon.

To challenge myself to work with more models,

to challenge myself to try more levitation shots,

to challenge myself to try more street photography,

and just challenge everything I've ever considered to be my style, or thought process.

I think the next few months are really going to be great for my photography.

Be bubbly.

In a way I'm honestly terrified of my ideas. I've never tapped into my thoughts, and plans like this before.

(Or rather, when I have, they didn't turn out.)

But I finally think my abilities might be strong enough to take my pictures to a level they've never been.

And that really excites me.

So, in conclusion. I get inspired when I actually can't do anything about it.

I know I say this a lot, but I love the past.

Probably my biggest role model is Audrey Hepburn.

She was such a great person who just did what she believed in, and got huge for doing so, and I admire her for that.

Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were two of the most beautiful women of all time, yet both of them believed only happy girls were beautiful.

I think that's something everyone should live by, happiness.

I've recently been falling in love with vintage/oldies clothing.

Today I went thrifting, hoping to find something that was old-ish that I could use in pictures and found this dress (in the pictures above), it makes me feel like a princess.

It's not the most beautiful dress, and I know that.

It looks sort of like an 90's prom dress.

But I'm okay with that.

My mom also let me wear her pearls, which honestly is the most gorgeous necklace ever, it's magical! As soon as I put them on, it felt like I was in character for the picture.

Being a time traveler is a lonely life.

A life of being lost, and found, then lost again.

To adapt to a time, then lose what you've grasped onto.

Maybe it'd be better to get stuck.

To get stuck in a time you can stay, and rely on.

I'm also in love with Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet.

But that's for another blog post.

Just a girl who likes clothes.

"What makes me happy is dressing, at long last, according to the dictates of my soul."

I'm inspired by many things, one of those many things being clothes.

I've always loved clothes, when I was around 8ish I got my first sewing machine and went crazy with it.

I made many miscellaneous items with clothes I didn't want anymore,

or clothes my family didn't want.

I specifically remember the very first thing I made that actually worked out the way I had planned,

it was a vest made out of one of my mom's old shirts, and then I added little pieces of fabric from my old favorite clothes.

It had a spongebob face from my first spongebob pajamas, a friendship bracelet that one of my best friends made for me, buttons from my favorite denim jacket, a money from my favorite pajamas, a patch from one of my favorite silky "hippie" shirts (what I called it when I was little.), and the list could go on forever.

Quite honestly, I'm inspired by the little kid I was back then.

I wore this vest for a few years 'till I grew out of it; but when I did wear it, I wore it proudly.
It was so beautiful in my eyes, and I didn't care if other people didn't like it or not. I liked it, and that was all that mattered.

I still feel the same way, where society has no boundaries on me, and has absolutely no say in what I think is beautiful, or what I think looks good. But it definitely still can have a terrible effect on me sometimes.

Getting weird looks for dyed hair, weird looks for wearing a tutu, crazy makeup, or even just my knee-high converse.

I hope someday, in the future, people will be more accepting of others,

and think people who are different, are the same.

Definitely inspired by an article about a girl in Vogue about how in high school she stopped dressing how she wanted, because of people, and because of bullies.

The sum of it all; I cut up a shirt today, and I'm realizing how in love I am with fashion, and would really love to pursue fashion photography more, or even just have some more fashion-esque clothes lying around at my disposal..

You know, fantasies of being rich and having all of the clothes I want.

So. I went to Minnesota.

It was a wonderful trip, for my Grandpa's 80th birthday.
The first night we were there we drove four hours to Fargo-Moorhead to surprise him.
He had no clue we were coming!
We hung out, we laughed, and ate delicious food (thanks to my Grandma Traaseth!).

This was taken while eating dessert!

The love in their smiles, I can't help but smile every time I see this picture.

I want to wish my Grandpa happy birthday, and thank him for being a great grandpa.

I also got to photography the birthday party, which was so much fun! (And once I finish editing them all, I will do a big blog post of them all.)

Editing the pictures, and looking through them all has sort of hit me in the head with an idea;

I think I want to do wedding photography?

'Love for the art.'

Today was great! I took pictures all day. It was crazy! But pretty awesome.

I spent the majority of my day cleaning up my Nikon FG, from 1982!

One of the cameras I had in my picture yesterday! I love him. <3

His name is Pierre.

He doesn't work anymore; I took him apart and cleaned out the dust, and everything cluttering the electronics, but found out it's missing one of the major reflectors inside.

So he's just a beautiful prop!

(But I've made it a lifetime goal to eventually fix him.)

I also got film for my Minolta Hi-Matic AF2, it works wonderfully!

I'm really excited to use it in Minnesota, and hopefully get some cool film-y shots, considering this will be my first time using film.

Yesterday I went to the thrift store, and got a black dress for pictures! (which I love and will most likely post a picture of eventually) And a wool high-waist skirt!

I love them, and prepare to see them in lots of pictures in the future.

Also! While taking pictures, my neighbors drove by (whom I've never talked to), rolled down their window, and a little girl asked me to take her picture, it was adorable!

The photographer.

Well! To start it all off, today is my day 200 on my 365 (yay!), and it's been the most amazing experience of my life. But I'll save all of that gooshy "I love photography and all that it's done for me" talk for when I finish my project.

To explain this picture. It's about what a photographer will do for a good picture. What they'll go through, whether it's hurt themselves, or trespass, or stand outside in the rain, or hang their camera from a ceiling!

We'll all do the most absurd things for pictures. But that's what makes us so awesome.

Photographers are crazy, and we like it that way.

A huge thank you to Laura Parrish for helping me start my camera collection<3 She gave me these three wonderful cameras. Tomorrow I'm going out to get film. So. Excited.

Dancing in coldness.

Let's dance to the sound of winter.

This was fun to take! Even if I froze half to death. I seriously love it.

I've had this idea for a while to do an elegant yet creepy/tim burtonish picture for a while, but never had the time to do it, or the right clothing. I got this shirt a few days ago, and it's my absolute favorite shirt ever now.

I got the tights around halloween, and the shoes for ETUSC in the summer. They've all payed for themselves with pictures, and inspiration.

Winter feels like it's finally here, and being freezing cold constantly.

Which is surprisingly having a positive impact on my pictures! I like having a cold, or icey look to my pictures.

New adventures.

Hello, 2012, I welcome you with an open mind for new adventures. <3
Quite honestly, this past year has been pretty weird. Went through some of the hardest things I've ever had to go through, but also some of the best things. Photography became the biggest part of my life last year, too. I started my 365 in April, and lived through feeling uninspired, lost, and alone. I've also grown so much since last January, it's crazy! Then, I wouldn't have even imagined going to photography school for at least a few years, and now I'm going in 23 days. Then, I couldn't have imagined spending $1,200 on a camera, now I've spent around $1,700 on photography equipment, and excited to spend more. Then, I wasn't friends with my best friend right now. (<3 you Karina. <3) Now, I'm excited to go to school, and have new adventures with photography, and the people who have influenced my life in negative and positive ways.
No matter how clique I feel for posting this, honestly, I can't wait to become a better person, and meet new people. New adventures are just waiting at my doorstep.

I hope all of you had an amazing last year, and have an amazing year to come. <3

Hello, Blogger! I can't sleep because I'm inspired.. So I figured, I'd catch you up on what I've been doing!

Unique.

I tried to be different. (again.)

Frozen.

Winter finally got here.

The cold is coming.

I did my first expansion picture!

The Imperfect.

I dyed my hair pink. (again)

And sat outside in the cold shirtless for the first time.

The flower girl.

Tried to captured a flowers vulnerability in a picture. (Successfully, I think.)

The Daily News.

And spent my day cutting out butterflies from news paper.

Life is honestly going in an amazing direction. Next month I'm going to Minnesota for my grandpa's birthday!

I'm also going to be doing a photoshoot with the amazing Caitlin O'brien! I'm so excited!

And then, when I get home, I'll be going to photography classes at Gainesville University, and when I'm 15 I can go to beauty school to get my beauty license. Like I said, life is going amazingly.

I miss blogging, and rambling about why I love photography, though.

So -hopefully- I'll blog more often, so I don't have to do these long catch-up posts.. But oh well.

Fairy Dust.

So, today I did my second picture ever using flour. And oh my gosh. It was so much! I got flour absolutely EVERYWHERE. But it was totally worth it.

The first one I did was way back in June, the day before I started my 365.

Flowers In The Wind.

I like to think my photography ability has improved quite a bit since then, but I still really like that picture.

ALSO.

Today my neighbor said his first words to me ever. It was really quite exciting, and hilarious.

"Hi, powerdy girl!", yelled out of a school bus.

That's been the excitement of my day, other than stepping on a stick while taking this and getting a small hole in the button of my foot. Ouch.

I want to start going outside and making an absolute fool of myself when kids are coming home from school, I think it'd be fun. And maybe, just maybe, there will be a kid who joins me.

That would be awesome.

Reasons.

Life in Technicolor.

So, I like reasons. They help my mind work with things. Whenthere aren't any reasonable reasons, I really dislike it. But there are certainexceptions, one of them being photography. I never reallyunderstood *why* I love photography. Was it the bright colors, shiny equipment,novelty of saying “I’m a photographer”? I thought about ittoday, and I think my reason is emotions. I love emotions, good or bad. I'm anemotional person, so I love the thought of being able to put my emotions intoart.

I also love being able to show people my world. Or, the wayI see the world. I like to look at things differently, and try and find thequirky weird things, or the beautifully simple things.

But overall, photography is such an emotional experience forme each and every picture is my feelings translated into an image. And I justlove being able to put my mind into images. There is just so much tophotography I love exploring, and realizing how big of a part of my life it is,and how important it is to me. It’scrazy I’ve only been serious about it for less than a year. Although, will I everconsider myself a “serious photographer”? I’ll probably end up foreverconsidering myself someone who takes pictures, just because I love it.

I don't think I could say it any better than that. I'm inlove with photography, and everything that goes along with it.

Okaaay. So. I love blogging. I can't keep myself away from blogging for one day, even. Grah!

So, lately I've been trying to do a lot of trying-to-figure-myself-out-ness.
And this whole 365 thing was to show the world 365 pieces of Kyra- And I haven't really done that! I mean, sure, each picture is a little part of me, but I haven't talked about a few things about me.

So, I took today's picture, thinking I'd really just try and be myself, and capture it. I feel like I kind of captured that. Soo, here are 20 facts about myself~ Enjoy.

1: I haven't had completely natural/not dyed hair since I was 9.
2: I feel very little and unimportant a lot.
3: I have a crazy obsession with hats.

8: My favorite thing about me is my eyes.

So, I didn't think I could love fall any more, and well, this happened.

Exploring the already explored.

I just HAD to do something like this after seeing THIS, it's seriously amazing. I hope to be as amazing as him, someday~ I also gathered leaves for two days for all of these leaves, because I live in a horrible no-tree area near me house. So I had to go down to the pool area and blast Bohemian Rhapsody while collecting leaves. Which was pretty awesome, anyways~

Flight

So, it's been a long of non-inspiration, and finally at the end of the day, I have a sudden burst of "I know what I want to do!"

Flight.

This definitely explains how I've been feeling lately. Needing to take flight, but not quite sure how yet, so I just sit and watch as others do.

But it's really kind of amazing watching people be able to pick up their life from nowhere, and be happy.

Tomorrow, IT IS GOING TO BE RAINING. Oh my gosh, I love it when it rains. I always get so inspired by the depressing colors of outside, weirdly. And being able to wear scarves outside is amazing, so, crossing my fingers it'll only be sprinkling for a bit so I can take my camera outside without being terrified.

Loss of words? Loss of happy? Loss of weirdness? Loss of inspiration.

I'm seriously missing my inspiration, but been having a really interesting few days, and I just know it'll get even more interesting soon, unfortunately.
But, maybe interesting's good for me right now.
Which is exactly why, I must post this weirdly interesting picture, which, isn't unique, but some how interesting.

Ahh! I haven't posted in forever, and I'm seriously sorry for that.

I've been busy on my Flickr, where I've started a 365 self portrait challenge.

It's been an amazing experience, and I'm already on day 113.

So, I guess I should catch this blog up on what's been going on, though-

On June 21st, I started my 365, with a selective black and white.

Colorful Yet Blank.

It's kind of crazy to think about how long ago that was now..

On June 25th, four days later. I splattered paint on my face.

Which turned out to be my first ever "Explored" picture on Flickr.

Painty.

That picture got 167 views in over night- and gained me 672 views in one day.

18 days later, I was in Minnesota for two weeks-

And made one of my favorite pictures to date.

Holding On.

16 days later, I was a curly haired queen.

Curly Queen.

11 days later, it was day 50! Which will forever be one of my favorites.

The Monsters Come Out At Night.

7 days later, I painted my hair. It was awesome.

Transforming.

Day 60, 61, 62, and 63 I four of my most iconic pictures.

My Wonderland. (Which got my second Explored.)

I also happened to get Laryngitis,

which happened to inspire my pictures in a good way.

On day 68, I had probably one of my memorable pictures ever.

The Outcasts got my third Explored, and won two Flickr group contests.

Day 70. Rainy days inspire the best pictures.

Day 76. I made one of my favorite pictures ever, probably.

Gluing stuff to my face has become one of my favorite things to do.

Day 79. I was stuck in the clouds.

Day 80, I was trying out softer tones.

I also love butterflies.

And there was a butterfly.

Day 89, I went on a three day cool picture spree.

For Just Breath, I went into the forest on the point at the lake for the first time.

Day 94. I discovered natural lens flares.

Where was my fault.

Day 95, and fall was coming!

Naturally.

And five days, and 100 stars cut, 100 strings tied, and 100 holes punched later...

It was day 100.

100 Stars.

That picture inspired lots of star-influenced pictures.

And on day 107, I was back to my photoshoping craziness.

So, this week has been pretty awesome.

My family and I went to the Bowman's house, and enjoyed the nice spring weather.

Samuel and Sadie

Samuel and Sadie were actually having some sort of war, or something.

'Cause Sadie wanted to play with Samuel's iPod, so then she started blowing in his ear...

It was kind of hilarious.

They eventually just played together.

Gotta love siblings. <3

Then we ate.

And Samuel played with a little green ball thing.

That was also hilarious.

We also all tried on Samuel's sunglasses to try and look cool for Facebook.

Those turned out nice.

We're all pretty cool.

After a short three days at the Bowman's, we went home.

And took a Samuel home with us!

We went on a date for our two year anniversary on the 16th. <3

And he gave me flowers~

Then he wanted to take pictures of me doing cartwheels.

This was the only one that turned out okay.

(Most of them were me falling over. Ouch.)

And, that's been my oh-so-exciting week!

Whenever I pass signs that say things like. "Soon to be development" or just plain "development" etc, I always think- "Oh great, -another- development? Really? Like we -need- that." Well, finally someone read my mind and said what I don't actually ever say...

so! Today I went into Atlanta to attack the buildings with my camera. It was awesome.

There is so much hurting everywhere, but right now, mainly Japan. With earthquake after earthquake hitting them, people need to try their best and help, or at least spread the word of how people can help.

Hoping everything will eventually be alright for all of those effected by this.

So, today I went into downtown Cumming (the town I live in). Right on the way, we stopped by Bobby's Bait Shop-

And saw "That Biscuit Place". (Which, doesn't have all that great of biscuits, oddly.)

And then, we're officially, in the town of Cumming Georgia!

Saw some of the important landmarks, such as...

City Hall

Forsyth County Courthouse.

And a statue outside of the Courthouse.

Although, all of those are pretty awesome, my FAVORITES were..

... And G-- Ohwait, JAILBUSTERS! Maybe they're just as cool as Ghostbusters.

Amidst all of that, I managed to get my good amount of stares in, with my colorful hair.

I stopped caring about that a long time ago, though.

After a few hours of just roaming, decided to stop by and get some dairy queen to end our trip.

We left, and finished in a grocery store.

(At least it had yummy vegetables.)

And there we have it. A day in downtown Cumming.

It was an awesome day, and now my feet hurt~

Bobby's Bait Shop...

I've always planned on taking a picture of like, 100+ pianos in a row, all sorts of different types, and shapes, and such. But you'd have to be able to look at all of the little details people put into them, either it's the ivory keys, or the stringing in the back. The piano itself always seemed like a piece of art.

Today I'm going to be going to a really old gas station, named "Bobby's Bait Shop". I've had my eye on it for a while to take pictures of it, it's rotting, being covered by kudzu, most likely infested with termites, but there's something unique and quirky about it. (And I love the name Bob for anything, so that kind of ties me in to wanting to see it.) I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a story like the "Coolest Junk Shop Ever", that I went to. Which ended up smelling like mold, and didn't have anything cool in it at all. Although, I think it's a little different. Considering what I want to take pictures of is the outside of the gas station, not the inside of a junk shop.

I'm loving how when you can just look at something, and think- "Oh, that's just a building." "Oh, that's just a gas station."- and think nothing of it. But then, when you take a picture of it, you can turn something that just seems like something so normal, and ordinary to the human eye, into art, and something absolutely amazing.

That's probably one of my favorite things about photography. Just looking at pictures of ordinary things.

Benches always seemed like an amazing subject for a picture, too. The cute little idea of sitting on a bench, with someone you love, or a friend, in a park, with trees, and birds chirping, creating the illusion of feeling like being a part of the best movie scene in a movie.

Today, I got the most amazing camera ever.
The Canon 60D. We fell in love at first sight. <3<3<3
I will love, and cherish her for as long as she'll take amazing pictures.

This was one of the first pictures I ever took with her. While still on auto settings, I think it's quite amazing.
